Some patients experience a change in their sense of taste, sometimes reporting having an unpleasant, persistent metallic flavor in their mouth. MetaQil is unique in that it is aimed specifically at this problem, the only product currently to claim to do so. As soon as I start swishing it turns into a really light, fluffy foam, which is great: it’s not easy to accidentally swallow and it doesn’t burn like normal mouthwash can.
It makes my tongue tingle a little for a very short time after use.
I like that it genuinely got rid of other flavors in my mouth, not just covering them up temporarily!
It did not have an unpleasant taste.

Take-home whitening kits are more popular than ever as they become more effective with new technology, offering better results in less time with fewer risks. Pola Light from SDI is a take-home whitening system that is available exclusively through dentists, which ensures the patient makes an informed decision on which whitening system is best for them. The kit consists of an LED mouthpiece, charging cord, and a whitening gel which is available in two varieties: 9.5% hydrogen peroxide and 22% carbamide peroxide. This system reportedly offers noticeable whitening of teeth in just 5 days with two 10- or 15-minute sessions per day at home. SDI offers an online selection tool that clinicians can use to help the patient choose which system is right for them.

It’s nice to get advice on which system I should get, rather than guessing online.
It was really well-balanced; it didn’t feel like it wanted to fall out of my mouth.
The tray was actually comfortable. I’ve tried others that hurt and this one didn’t.
I can taste some of the whitening gel from the bottom of the tray. Next time maybe I’ll use less gel.
Super easy to use: twice a day for just a short time, straight-forward instructions. I like that it’s portable and doesn’t require being plugged into the wall during use.

Dry mouth is a symptom experienced by many patients, be it from medication or an existing condition. A variety of products are available to dispel dry mouth with a rinse or spray. One is lubricity, a spray that is alcohol- and sugar-free that reportedly provides relief for up to 4 hours. It is available in 0.5-2.0 fl oz bottles, small enough to fit within a hand or a pocket.

I love the 0.5 fl oz bottle; perfect for work. Bonus that it only has 5 ingredients where others have twice as many.
I was expecting a flavor even though it said it was flavorless. I was pleasantly surprised that there actually wasn’t flavor!

As we learn more about COVID transmission, attention has been placed on preventing spatter and droplets, as well as aerosols from entering a dental professional’s eyes. New guidelines were issued encouraging the use of goggles or faceshields with sides. In light of this, we received the Palmero® ProVision® Secure™ Safety Eyewear to try out. These goggles are wrap-around with vented foam padding that sits against the wearer’s face. They come equipped with an adjustable elastic strap that can be removed to easily put on and take off the goggles.

What did our team think of the ProVision Secure Safety Eyewear?
The strap is easy to remove and put back on; I found it most comfortable to unhook one side while putting them on.
I couldn’t even get them to fog up, even when I blew straight up against them!
No noticeable distortion near the edges. Great peripheral vision.
The padding is soft on my face unlike some of the all-plastic goggles I’ve tried before.

In a time when disinfection of surfaces is critically important to dental offices, it is important to know all the options available to professionals. We received an Egret EO Blaster which uses Electrolyzed water (EO water) to reportedly deodorize, kill germs, and remove contaminants when used as a complimentary step to traditional disinfecting procedures. It comes with a charging cable and a small scoop for salt. To set up, the user fills the pitcher with tap water to the max line (800ml), then adds a scoop of salt (5g). After 3 minutes of electrolysis, the device allows you to spray a mist over surfaces from upholstery to desks to toys and more.
