Description

The 1Shot SUB Series is a dental x-ray holder system designed to fit film, phosphor plates and digital sensors in all sizes. The system includes 4 models/sizes for taking bitewing, anterior/posterior periapicals, and anterior/posterior endodontic radiographs. Holders are color-coded polysulphone plastic and come with medical grade silicone elastic bands to help secure the film/phosphor plate(PSP) /sensor in place. The 1Shot SUB Series is also intended to aid in aligning the X-ray tube to the film/PSP/sensor. All x-ray holders and silicone universal bands are reusable and autoclavable. The Universal/Starter box contains eight holders and 80 SUB bands. The 1Shot SUB Series was evaluated by 17 consultants in 635 uses. This product received an 82% clinical rating.

1Shot SUB Series is a dental x-ray holder system with recently upgraded medical-grade silicone elastic bands to help secure the film or sensor in place. The system is designed to fit all film, phosphor plates and digital sensors in all sizes. Holders are color-coded plastic and include styles for taking bitewing, anterior/posterior periapicals, and anterior/posterior endodontic radiographs. 1Shot SUB Series can also aid in aligning the x-ray tube to the film/sensor. All x-ray holders and silicone universal bands are reusable and autoclavable. The starter box contains eight holders and 80 SUB bands. Seventy-five percent of consultants found the new bands to be an improvement over the previous version and 100% felt they held the sensor more securely in the holder. This product received an 82% clinical rating.

Product Features

The 1Shot SUB Series effectively fits all styles of x-ray film/PSP and sensors. The four holder sizes, each a different color, may be used for various applications depending on the film/PSP/sensor size and orientation. Dental assistants and hygienists found the instructions poorly written, and they were not clear which holder to use for each application. Placement of the bands around the sensors and holders was cumbersome, and completing a full-mouth series required extra time and the use of 2 holders for a particular film/PSP or sensor. The design of the holder includes an extension of the plastic around the external surface of the patient’s cheek, and this serves as a guide for orienting the x-ray cone in three planes. The plastic and silicone components of the 1Shot SUB Series held up well after repeated sterilization cycles, and this was the highest rated feature of the system. Six percent of consultants rated 1Shot SUB Series better than other x-ray holders and 29% rated it equivalent. Twelve percent of consultants would switch to 1Shot SUB Series and 29% would recommend it to a colleague.

Clinical Tips

• Do not use dry heat sterilization.
• Holders can be sterilized up to 100 times and SUB Bands up to 40 times.
