Description

CLEARFIL DC BOND is a dual-cured (light- and/or self-cured), two-component, one-step bonding system that allows simultaneous treatment of both dentin and enamel. It is recommended for the bonding of core build-ups using light-, dual-, or self-cured composite; direct restorations using light- or self-cured composite; bonding of indirect alloy, composite, or ceramic restorations including veneers with a resin cement (e.g., CLEARFIL ESTHETIC Cement); and for intraoral repairs of fractured crowns. Combining a two-step bonding system into one agent, CLEARFIL DC BOND simplifies the bonding of dual-cured materials. To apply, mix the two components together and apply one coat of the bonding agent to the prepared area, then thin with air and light cure for 10 seconds. No etching of cut enamel or dentin is needed. There is no requirement for shaking the bottle or scrubbing of the preparation. CLEARFIL DC BOND comes in a kit with one, 4-ml bottle of Bond Liquid A; one, 4-ml bottle of Bond Liquid B; a brush holder; a mixing dish; a light-blocking plate; and 50 disposable brush tips. Seventeen consultants evaluated CLEARFIL DC BOND in nearly 300 clinical situations. This product received a 94% clinical rating.

Editors’ Observations

Manufacturer’s Instructions and Packaging/Ease of Use of Two-bottle System
Packaging is compact with clear, concise instructions. CLEARFIL DC BOND simplifies the sometimes confusing bonding systems needed for dual-cured materials.

Viscosity and Ease of Application
Without the need for a separate etchant or activator and having to place only one coat, the editors found this bonding agent easier to place and more efficient compared to other multi-step, dual-cured systems.

Ease of Air Dispersal/ Time to Light Cure
CLEARFIL DC BOND is slightly viscous and visibly clings to the prepared tooth when blown with air. Light curing for 10 seconds achieves a glossy, bonded surface.

Postoperative Sensitivity
A number of the evaluating editors commented that patients had less postoperative sensitivity with CLEARFIL DC BOND
