Description
COMPLETE is a universal adhesive system designed for all bonding techniques. The system includes three color-coded bottles: a primer/resin, a dual-cured catalyst and an unfilled resin. COMPLETE is indicated for bonding of direct light- or dual-cured composite restorations and cores, cementation of porcelain crowns and veneers, and repairs to porcelain, resin, and porcelain-fused-to-metal repairs, By adding the dual-cured catalyst to the primer/unfilled resin a dual-bonding primer and adhesive is created and used primarily for indirect procedures such as cementation of inlays, onlays and porcelain veneers. The unfilled resin is used for composite repairs. A complete instruction booklet describes procedures for the various indications. The kit contains a 5-ml bottle of Primer/Unfilled Resin (red cap), 5-ml bottle of Dual-cure Catalyst (black cap), 5-ml bottle of Unfilled Resin (blue cap), two brush applicators, and manufacturer’s instructions/MSDS. COMPLETE was evaluated by 25 consultants in 558 uses. It received an 83% clinical rating.
Product Features
COMPLETE was rated good for ease of use with light-cured composites. The bonding procedure is lengthier than that of similar products: etch, rinse, dry, apply 2 coats, air thin, apply an additional coat, air thin, and light cure for 20 seconds. When using the dual-cured activator, assistants noted that the drop sizes were consistent, although the 2:1 ratio of drops did not follow the more common 1:1 mixing with which they were familiar. Generally, the bottle caps are hard to open and a sticky residue builds up on the dropper portion of the bottles. Consultants commented on its lack of postoperative sensitivity. The instructions are complete for all clinical cases but should be simplified into laminated cards for chair-side reference. Twenty-four percent of consultants reported that COMPLETE was better than their current bonding agent and 40% reported that it was equivalent. Forty percent would switch to COMPLETE and 56% would recommend it.
Clinical Tips
Be sure the tooth surface is dry after etching and rinsing.
