Description
Composi-Tight3D Clear sectional matrix system is designed to allow light curing through the components while creating anatomical contacts on Class II composite restorations. The matrix bands, wedges, and the silicone pads on the rings are all transparent or translucent, allowing the composite to be cured from the lingual and the buccal through the matrix system. Bands are a transparent blue plastic, contoured in three dimensions. Wedges are color-coded plastic. Three band heights and four wedge sizes are provided. The retention rings incorporate clear silicone pads that grip the embrasures from the buccal and lingual aspects. The premium kit evaluated included 100 bands, 100 wedges, two soft face rings, one extra ring, and placement forceps. Composi-Tight 3D Clear was evaluated by 15 consultants in 279 uses. This sectional matrix system received an 84% clinical rating.
Product Features
The ability to cure through the bands in posterior interproximal areas is a positive feature of the Composi-Tight 3D Clear system. Size selection of the bands and wedges is very good, and the pre-contoured bands create a nice marginal ridge roll and convex shape interproximally. Consultants reported that Composi-Tight 3D Clear was most effective in moderate sized restorations. A conservative preparation without fully opened contacts can cause difficulty in band placement; in large, wide preparations the band dioes not always adapt to the adjacent tooth. Wedges are smooth and easy to place. Fit of the rings around the teeth varies, but is more secure on taller teeth. Careful case selection is necessary to avoid challenges in placing these various components. When using Composi-Tight 3D Clear, improved exposure to the curing light is gained compared to metal bands.

Clinical Tips
- Use an abrasive strip to open tight contacts between the teeth to facilitate band placement.
