Description

Denti-Foam is a fluoride foam indicated for in-office topical treatments. The foam is a low-slump, high-flow formula designed to reduce gagging and provide good coverage of tooth surfaces. Denti-Foam is available in 1.23% APF and 2% NSF formulas and is packaged in 4.4-oz bottles for direct placement into trays. Each bottle provides up to 130 applications. The APF formula, treatment time of one minute, is available in mint, raspberry, bubble gum, orange, grape, and strawberry flavors. The NSF formula, treatment time of four minutes, is available in mint and raspberry flavors. Shelf life for Denti-Foam is two years after the date of manufacture. Twenty-seven consultants used Denti-Foam in over 470 clinical procedures. This product received an 89% clinical rating.

Product Features

The variety of flavors of Denti- Foam was the favorite feature of the majority of consultants. Patients liked the taste, improving acceptance of treatment. Dispensing is simple, but caution is necessary when loading the tray. The bottle dispenses the foam in a quick burst, making it hard to control the volume placed in the tray. As the foam expands, it can run over the sides of the tray, but excess is easily removed with a cotton-tipped applicator or fingertip. After expanding, the foam has enough body to prevent slumping, yet is light and airy and flows very well interproximally. The short application time of the APF formula was appreciated while the four-minute application time of the NSF formula was too long for general use. Eighty percent of consultants found Denti-Foam equivalent to or better than their current in-office fluoride treatment, 72% would recommend it, and 64% would switch.

Clinical Tips

  • Use the NSF foam for patients with ceramic restorations.
  • The neutral formulation prevents etching of the glazed surface. Place a small amount of foam in the tray, wait for complete expansion, and then spread it in the tray.
