Description

The Elements Diagnostic Unit is an electronic apex locator/diagnostic unit. The system includes the Elements Diagnostic Unit, a file clip, three probe tips, a lip hook, a satellite display with clip, and an AC adaptor. The satellite unit is a small display clipped to the patient’s bib, allowing the clinician to work without turning to look at the main unit. The main unit features buttons for on/off, setup, mode switch (apex/vitality), vitality rate, volume, and brightness. A 5.1 x 8.2-cm LCD graphically shows file distance from the apex, location of apical constriction, vitality rate, display brightness, audio volume, and battery level. The apex locator operates in the presence of liquid in the canal, including EDTA and necrotic tissue. The numeric display of the main unit shows distance to the apical foramen in 0.1-mm increments, ranging from +3.0 mm to -0.5 mm. The vitality scanner has a pulsating stimulus that increases at a preset rate. The satellite shows a blue and green LED display of 0.2-mm increments. Seven consultants evaluated the Elements Diagnostic Unit over a three-month period. This product received a 96% clinical rating.
