Description

FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED is a white, VPES silicone indicated for checking the fit of indirect restorations and prostheses. It may be used with crowns/bridges, precast posts, inlays/onlays and dentures. Margins, proximal surfaces, occlusal surfaces, and internal fit may be checked, with the amount of “show through” indicating areas of pressure. FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED is available in automix cartridge or in tubes for hand-mixing. The working time of the material is 1 minute. GC Silicone Retarder, included with the hand-mixed material, may be added to extend the working time up to 1 min. 30 sec. Once FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED has been applied to the prosthesis and placed in the mouth, it should be held in place for one minute until completely set. The cartridge kit includes FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED Cartridge 62g (48mL) x 2 with 6 mixing tips. The hand-mix kit includes a 55g tube of base, a 50g tube of catalyst, a 3g vial of GC Silicone Retarder and a mixing pad. FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED was evaluated by 19 consultants in 314 uses. This product received an 86% clinical rating.

Product Features

FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED is easy to apply and remove, peeling out cleanly from indirect restorations and removable appliances. The white color is highly visible in pink acrylic and metal restorations; consultants would have preferred a colored material for use in ceramic restorations. FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED flows to a thin film thickness when the appliance or restoration is seated with pressure. Areas of heavy contact create a burn-through area in the silicone, indicating where adjustments may be needed. Consultants had the most successful adjustments if they marked the burn-through areas with a pen or pencil first. Otherwise the silicone peels out of the restoration so easily that the bur dislodges it during adjustment. Sixty-three percent of consultants found FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED to be better than other fit-checking methods they have used and 16% found it to be equivalent. Sixty-eight percent of consultants would switch to FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED and 82% would recommend it.

Clinical Tips

  • Contamination with any of the following materials can inhibit setting: condensation silicone catalyst, polysulfides, eugenol, sulfur, latex, oil, acrylates, glycerol and topical anesthetic.

  • Dry the restoration/prosthesis prior to applying FIT CHECKER™ ADVANCED.

  • Mark burn-through areas with a pencil, peel material out of the restoration, then make necessary adjustments.
