Description

GC Fuji TEMP LT is a glass ionomer provisional and implant cement. It is indicated for the temporary cementation of provisional restorations as well as permanent restorations on teeth and implant abutments. GC Fuji TEMP LT is supplied in a paste pack cartridge that dispenses equal amounts of each component. It has a mixing time of 10-15 seconds, a working time of 2 minutes and a final setting time of 3 minutes, after removal of excess. It is available in a universal shade in 13.3 g cartridges. The kit contains two 13.3 g Paste Paks, a Paste Pak dispenser and a mixing pad. GC Fuji TEMP LT was evaluated by 28 consultants in 579 uses. It received an 84% clinical rating.

PRODUCT FEATURES

Consultants commented on the ease of dispensing GC Fuji TEMP LT from the Paste Pak and the smooth mixing. About a minute after seating the restoration, the excess cement becomes rubbery and is simple to remove. When it was time to remove the provisional restoration, the relative ease or difficulty of removal varied from case to case. After removal of the provisional restoration, the majority of cement remained on the tooth and was difficult to remove. Often the patients had to be anesthetized to remove the cement with a sharp instrument (scaler). In many cases a tenacious black stain on the dentin was observed. Many consultants reported good retention, but some had restorations that de-bonded. An increased incidence of postoperative sensitivity was noted. Forty-six percent of consultants reported that GC Fuji TEMP LT was better than their current temporary cement and 14% reported that it was equivalent. Fifty percent would switch to GC Fuji TEMP LT and 57% would recommend it.

Clinical Tips

  • Leave tooth moist before cementation.

  • Wait until the material starts to gel for easy cleanup.
