Description
greenbite apple is an automixed, addition silicone, bite registration material. It is applied directly to teeth from a dual-barreled cartridge. The medium-bodied material is bright green and has a mild apple flavor. It is packaged with two, 50-ml dual-barreled cartridges, 12 mixing tips, and 12 flat ribbon tips. The working time is 30 seconds with an intraoral setting time of 60 seconds. Thirty consultants used greenbite apple in over 350 cases. This product received a 92% clinical rating.
Product Features
The packaging and dispensing of greenbite apple were familiar to the consultants. The ease of removal from the mouth, rigidity, and resistance to tearing received high ratings. The scent and taste are mild and pleasant. Quality of detail in the bite registration was rated excellent. Dispensing greenbite apple through the mixing tip requires a moderate amount of force; adding a flat ribbon tip reduces the opening size, requiring even more force on the dispensing gun to extrude the material. Most consultants reported dispensing the material directly from the mixing tip onto the teeth. Eighty-six percent of consultants approved of the working time and setting time. greenbite apple was found to trim easily and cleanly with a sharp scalpel, but a set registration may break (like all silicone bite registration materials) if scissors are used; therefore, scissors are not recommended. Fifty-seven percent of consultants would purchase greenbite apple, and 70% would recommend it to a colleague.
Clinical Tips
- Since the set material is very rigid, limit the amount of greenbite apple used to make it easier to remove.
- Drying the teeth before application helps retain the material in place.
- Trim the bite registration with a scalpel.
