Description
LuxaBond Total Etch is a 4th-generation, dual-cured enamel and dentin adhesive for bonding resin-based restoratives. After etching with 37% phosphoric acid and rinsing, a coat of Pre-Bond is worked into the moist tooth surface and air-dispersed before applying the mixture of Bond A and Bond B for 20 seconds. Then air is applied for dispersion of excess resin. LuxaBond Total Etch is packaged with a 5-ml bottle of Pre-Bond, a 5-ml bottle each of Bond A and Bond B, 2-ml of Etch Gel, and accessories. LuxaBond Total Etch was evaluated by 27 consultants in 676 uses. This product received an 88% clinical rating.
Product Features
Clinicians rated the ease of dispensing, application, and viscosity of the various materials of LuxaBond Total Etch as very good. The material wets the tooth readily. They also liked its overall usefulness and versatility. Matrix band removal is easy. No de-bonds were reported nor was postoperative sensitivity a problem. The several steps required of a 4th-generation bonding system, compared to 5th-, 6th-, and 7th-generation products, necessitates a longer application time. Eighty-five percent of evaluators rated LuxaBond Total Etch as equal to or better than the bonding system they currently use, 37% would switch to LuxaBond Total Etch, and 67% would recommend it to a colleague.
