Description
Nano-Bond is a reinforced 6th-generation (Type I) dentin bonding agent. This system relies on a self-etch primer that eliminates the need for traditional dentin or enamel acid etching with phosphoric acid; however, an included 37% phosphoric acid etching gel for uncut enamel is strongly thixotrophic to allow precise placement. Two coats of the primer solution should be left on for at least 30 seconds followed by an adhesive coating; after 10 seconds of gentle air drying, a 10- second light cure completes the procedure. A dual-cure activator is provided, allowing use with dual- and self-cured materials. The kit contains Nano-Bond adhesive and self-etch primer, dual-cure activator, phosphoric acid etching gel in a syringe, and accessories. The bottles of self-etch primer and adhesive have nozzles with the caps and, the labels are color-coded for easy identification. Laminated instruction cards describe the uses of Nano-Bond in a concise, step-by-step fashion. Twenty-three consultants evaluated Nano-Bond in over 475 direct, 35 indirect and 40 desensitizing procedures. This product received an 86% clinical rating.
Product Features
Eighty-nine percent of consultants rated Nano-Bond a good-to-excellent bonding system. Characteristics such as viscosity, dual-cure capability, ease of use, completeness of the kit, and margins (adaptation), and lack of postoperative sensitivity were listed as the most-liked features. Similarly, lack of odor, packaging and the delivery system all rated well. Consultants who routinely use systems with fewer steps or application times felt that Nano-Bond was deficient in this regard. Others would have preferred a less traditional bottle dispensing system. Fifty percent of consultants would purchase and recommend Nano-Bond.
Clinical Tips
- Scrub the material while applying it, as the agitation is important for proper bonding.
- Etch uncut enamel with phosphoric acid.
