Description

OptraFine is a polishing system developed for use with ceramic/ porcelain materials including CAD/CAM restorations. The system includes rubberized, diamond-impregnated polishers; nylon brushes; and diamond-infused polishing paste. OptraFine F finishers (light blue) are used with water to smooth the surface of the restoration. OptraFine P polishers (dark blue) are used with water to polish the surface. OptraFine HP high polishing brushes and paste are used without water to obtain a high gloss. The finishers and polishers are available in three shapes: flame, cup, and disc. The latch-type instruments can be used intra- or extra-orally in a slow-speed handpiece at rotary speed of 10,000-15,000 rpm. All OptraFine instruments can be autoclaved and reused up to 10 times. The kit evaluated includes six OptraFine F, six OptraFine P, six OptraFine HP brushes, and a 1-ml syringe of OptraFine HP polishing paste. Thirty consultants evaluated the OptraFine system in over 300 uses. This product received a 95% clinical rating.

Product Features

OptraFine polishing system is easy to use with clear instructions and excellent shapes. Consultants found the final polish to be very good. The time required to achieve the desired polish is equivalent to similar intraoral systems. All three shapes are flexible and adaptable to tooth anatomy, allowing access to most areas. All consultants found the OptraFine system very durable after repeated sterilization and multiple uses; although four consultants experienced breakage with one or two of the polishers. Sixty-seven percent of consultants found OptraFine equivalent to or better than their current polishing system. Sixty percent would switch to OptraFine, and 80% would recommend the system to a colleague.
