Description
ParaPost ParaCore Automix 5ml is a dual-cured, radiopaque composite core material supplied in a newly developed 5-ml, dual-barrel syringe. The auto-mix tip allows direct placement into the prepared tooth. When used with dual-cured dentin bonding agents, the material is suitable for root canal post cementation, which can be done simultaneously during the core build-up procedure. ParaPost ParaCore Automix 5ml should be used with the manufacturer’s adhesive, a two-step primer/adhesive combination. ParaBond Non-rinse Conditioner is applied for 30 seconds and lightly blown with air. ParaBond Adhesive A and B are mixed together and applied. The introductory kit evaluated includes four, 5-ml syringes of white and dentin shaded ParaCore Automix; 20 auto-mix tips; 3-ml bottles of ParaBond Non-rinse Conditioner; ParaBond Adhesive A and Adhesive B; a re-usable mixing well; a brush holder; applicator brush tips; and ParaPost core formers. Twenty-five consultants evaluated this product in over 300 procedures. This product received a 92% clinical rating.
Product Features
ParaPost ParaCore Automix 5ml was well received by consultants. The introductory kit was complete and instructions for bonding application were clear. The ease of dispensing the material and the consistency (viscosity) of the mix were most frequently cited as positive features. Working and setting times were also excellent, providing adequate time for application but with the ability to light-cure for rapid set. Packability of the material is minimal. Although the low viscosity provides good adaptation to preparations, it limits instrument manipulation. Shade differentiation from the tooth with the white shade was excellent, and the dentin shade blended well. Cured material is easy to cut but provided less resistance than some consultants desired. Minimal bubbles and voids were encountered, and a good final surface quality after crown preparation was reported. Overall, 83% of consultants found ParaPost ParaCore AutoMix 5ml to be equivalent to or better than their current core material. Three out of four consultants indicated that they would switch from their current product, and 86% would purchase the product and recommend it to a colleague.
Clinical Tips
- • Thirty-five percent phosphoric acid can be used for etching instead of the ParaBond Non-rinse Conditioner.
- Working time for the ParaBond Adhesive is two minutes from the start of mixing.
- The maximum acceptable time lapse between adhesive application and core placement is five minutes.
