Description

SalivaSure is an over-the-counter product designed to promote salivary flow. It is intended to relieve xerostomia caused by a variety of factors including diseases or medications. Each small, white lozenge contains sorbitol, fruit acids, salts and a phosphate buffer. SalivaSure acts by increasing salivation through physiological stimulation of the taste buds. It is buffered to help shield tooth enamel and dental tissue. SalivaSure has no known side effects and no interactions with medications have been reported. One lozenge is placed in the mouth and allowed to dissolve. The procedure may be repeated as needed. In severe cases up to one lozenge per hour is recommended. Each package contains 90 lozenges in a plastic container with a flip-open cap. Thirty-six consultants and patients used SalivaSure.

Product Features

Patients found SalivaSure to have nice packaging that allowed them to carry it easily. The lozenges are easy to dispense from the package. The effectiveness of SalivaSure was rated highly by the patients, with many patients commenting on how fast it seemed to relieve their dry mouth. Several patients commented on the small size of the lozenge that made it easy to take. The least-liked feature of SalivaSure was the tart taste. Many patients commented that it was a hindrance to a more frequent use of the lozenge. Another factor was the limited time the benefits lasted. Patients noted that they were required to use it on a more-frequent basis than the previous treatment they were using for their dry mouth. Sixty-eight percent of the patients would recommend the use of SalivaSure.
