- “The burs cut smoothly through metal and did not seem to dull rapidly.”
- “The burs initially cut aggressively and remained clean and free of debris during use.”
- “The bur worked better on metals than it did on porcelain.”
- “I prefer H1558RZ-FG over H331RZ-FG because the diameter is larger, allowing better control.”
Description
The Razor Carbide burs are designed for rapid reduction of all dental materials including amalgam, porcelain, various metal alloys, and tooth structure. The sharp tip and blade design are reported to improve cutting performance, particularly for crown removal and endodontic access openings. The burs are constructed in one piece and are available in six specialty shapes:
- H245RZ-FG – Long Pear
- H330RZ-FG & H331RZ-FG – Pear
- H557RZ-FG – Flat End Cylinder
- H1557RZ-FG and
- H1558RZ-FG – Round End Cylinder
with various diameters and head sizes. The burs are supplied in packs of 10 or 100 and can be used for multiple procedures. Twenty-six consultants evaluated two of The Razor Carbide burs (H331RZ-FG and H1558RZ-FG) in 482 clinical cases. This product received an 86% clinical rating.
Product Features
The bulk packaging of The Razor Carbide is efficient but may be of concern for cross contamination. The burs fit well into a variety of different hand pieces and are concentric. The cutting efficiency and clogging resistance of new burs were reported to be very good, although the cutting effectiveness and durability for multiple uses are dependent on the materials that have been previously cut. The cutting efficiency of the two shapes evaluated was rated as very good for amalgam, noble metals, and tooth structure and noticeably less for base metals and porcelain. Sixty-five percent of the consultants rated The Razor Carbide equal to or better than similar burs they were using and 60% would recommend them.
