Description

Variolink Veneer is a micro-filled light-cured resin cement system for luting translucent ceramic and composite restorations. The kit contains seven 1.5-ml syringes of cement in varying values. A neutral value (transparent), three levels of high value, and three levels of low value are provided. The varying gradations are based on the desired brightness or warmth of the final restoration. The kit also contains seven try-in pastes to match the cement shades; 37% phosphoric acid gel; ExciTE single-dose bonding agent; Liquid Strip that helps eliminate the presence of the air-inhibited layer; and Monobond Plus, a single-component primer that promotes an adhesive bond between the luting cement and all types of indirect restorative materials. An illustrated instruction card is included with the kit. Twenty consultants used Variolink Veneer over a six-month period to lute 105 restorations. It received a 94% clinical rating.

Product Features

Comments from the 20 consultants who used Variolink Veneer were mostly positive. The instructions, completeness of the kit and overall esthetic results were rated excellent. Categories that were rated very good included packaging, lack of post-operative sensitivity, shade selection, and try-in paste. Several consultants felt that the packaging could be improved and many noted that there was too much similarity in the delivery systems of the try-in paste and the resin cement. Twenty percent of consultants preferred the use of the vita shade system for shade selection instead of the high, medium and low chromatic value. Sixty-seven percent of consultants reported that the cement was better than their current cement, while 33% stated that it was equivalent. Fifty-five percent would switch to Variolink Veneer and 70% would recommend it.
