Bien-Air opened its US branch in 1979, 20 years after it was founded in Switzerland by David Mosimann, a Swiss watchmaker. Originally based in New York, the US branch was initially created to service repair needs for the US market, but slowly, the branch began to grow. Focusing on the development of electric handpieces for the US market, Bien-Air delivered the first table top console for high-speed use. From there, more than 42 US dental schools and tens of thousands of US practicing dentists now use Bien-Air electric handpieces exclusively.
