Description

The EFFICA™ E1 Ultrasonic Cleaning System is a one-gallon capacity ultrasonic unit indicated for the cleaning of dental instruments prior to sterilization. It has a unique hinged cover that is removable if necessary. The EFFICA E1 is also available with an optional locking cover to help ensure instruments are cleaned for an uninterrupted cleaning cycle. The EFFICA E1 is designed for quiet operation and comes equipped with a custom basket for increased energy flow. The interior dimensions are 11.25” x 5.5” x 3.5”. The unit has an enlarged drain line, enabling faster tank draining than with conventional drains. Cycle times of 6, 12, 20, 40 and 60 minutes may be selected on the front of the unit. Fourteen consultants evaluated both EFFICA E1 models (the locking cover and the non-locking  cover) in over 1400 uses. This ultrasonic cleaner received an 86% clinical rating.

Equipment Features

EFFICA E1 has a contemporary design with a white plastic housing that is easy to maintain. The digital touchpad is simple and easy to use by selecting one of the five pre-set cycle time options. After the cover is closed and the time selected, the cover locks until the cleaning cycle is finished. This feature ensures that instruments are thoroughly cleaned for proper sterilization. Consultants would have liked to see a countdown timer to indicate cycle time remaining. The unit effectively cleaned instruments and performed well during the evaluation period. The basket fit nicely in the unit and had sturdy handles for removal. Twenty-nine percent of consultants rated EFFICA E1 better than other ultrasonic cleaners they had used, and 57% rated it equivalent. Fifty percent of consultants would switch to EFFICA E1 and 79% would recommend it.

Clinical Tips

• Check under-cabinet clearance for the unit with the hinged cover open.
