Description

Flexitime is a hydrophilic, addition silicone impression material, which is available in the following viscosities:Light Flow – extra-light body, Correct Flow – light body, Medium Flow – regular body, Monophase, Heavy Tray – heavy body, and Easy Putty. Most viscosities are available in 50 ml cartridges, and the putty is supplied in 600 ml tubs. Heavy Tray and Monophase are also available for use with the Flexitime Dynamix automatic mixing delivery system. The trial kits contains sufficient material along with mixing tips and tray adhesive. Flexitime has a unique formula that allows a range of working times from 30 seconds to 2:30. The set is accelerated by mouth temperature and the set time is 2:30 after insertion. Eight consultants evaluated Flexitime in 115 clinical cases. This product received a 97% clinical rating.

Product Features

The multiple viscosities and the ease of delivery of Flexitime were rated as excellent. The material injects easily and has good flow. None of the cartridges exhibited any clogging in the tips. Dental assistants found the putty to be one of the easiest to mix. Upon seating the tray, the putty is soft enough to adapt to the teeth without distortion, resulting in excellent fit of restorations. The flexibility in the working time is an advantage for multiple-unit impressions, while for single-unit impressions, the working time is reduced, because the material sets rapidly at mouth temperature. Correct Flow light body blends well with the heavy body and putty with sufficient color difference for easy reading of the margins. Eighty-eight percent of consultants would both purchase and recommend the Flexitime system.Editors’ Note: The original evaluation was published in THE DENTAL ADVISOR, Vol. 18, No. 3, April 2001.

Cement-It Universal C&B Cement

Cement-It Universal C&B Cement

Consultants’ Comments

  • “The double-barrel syringe is a great concept.”
  • “Excellent mixing viscosity.”
  • “I would like to see more shades.”

Description

Cement-It® Unicersal C&B™ Cement is a dual-cured resin cement designed for cementation of metal restorations, ceramic or indirect composite crowns, bridges, inlays/onlays, and posts. Included in the kit are:

  • 2, 3-ml (6.6-g) double-barrel cement syringes,
  • 1, 6-ml bottle of Bond-1 primer/adhesive,
  • 1, 5-ml bottle of PrepEze desensitizer,
  • 1 syringe of 37% phosphoric acid etchant,
  • 1, 3-ml bottle of silane, and
  • accessories and instructions.

The cement comes in 2 shades (opaceous white and A2). A translucent shade is also available separately. The cement has a working time of 1.5 minutes with a 4-minute chemical setting time. A 40-second light cure can accelerate the setting time when desired. Fourteen consultants used Cement-It Universal C&B Cement in over 220 metal, ceramic or indirect composite restoration procedures and over 50 porcelain repair or post cementation procedures. Cement-It Universal C&B Cement is an excellent resin cement system. It received a 96% rating.

Product Features

Consultants liked the packaging and layout of Cement-It Universal C&B Cement and appreciated the completeness of the kit. Bond-1 primer/adhesive included in the kit was rated very good, and the desensitizer was found to be helpful by some consultants. A few consultants suggested that the number of steps was excessive. However, a majority of consultants remarked on the system’s overall ease of use, especially the relative ease of dispensing and mixing of the material. The dual-barrel syringe with twist-on mixing tip was a favorite feature for dental assistants. The short tip results in little waste and provides near delivery of the cement. The viscosity of the material was highly rated, and shade availability was found to be good. The working and setting times were adequate for most consultants. With 5-7 seconds of light curing, removal of excess at a gel-like state made clean-up easy. After set of the cement, ease of removal of excess also rated very well. Sixty-five percent of consultants found Cement-It Unicersal C&B Cement to be the same as or better than their current resin cement system and would purchase and recommend it.
