The iVisor™ Loupe Visor by Pac-Dent is an adjustable visor and shield kit that is designed to fit over glasses, loupes, and a light. The visor is compatible with a mini shield that rests above the large air vents, and a light-cure filter can be adhered to the shield at eye-level. Available in 6 colors and 3 sizes (small, medium [standard size], and large). Shields are reusable and can be easily replaced when they get scratched.

What were some of the thoughts of the Dental Advisor Initial Insights Team?
Extremely comfortable, I wear it all day with no discomfort!
Adjustable strap allows it to be tightened so it won’t slip if you bend over to see at a tough angle.
The mini-shield above makes you feel extra-protected but still leaves the air vents open so it is more breathable.
Accommodates loupes and lights very well, but the larger loupes, especially the flip-up ones with the light attached to the flip-up, may not fit as easily under these.

The 3M™ Versaflo™ PAPR is a powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) that offers an alternative to N95 respirators. The air pump is worn around the waist and attaches to a hood via a flexible tube. Air flows from the pump into the hood, inflating it and defogging the clear shield at its front. It is designed to keep the user’s face cool and allow for a wide view of their work area. There are two options for hoods/headpieces, with or without a shroud, and two sizes, small/medium or large in the non-shrouded headpiece.

Compared to other PAPRs I’ve worn, this was much lighter. I didn’t feel a strain on my neck.
It’s a much more comfortable alternative to the N95. If I had to choose an N95 or this, I’d choose this in a heartbeat.
Position the battery pack to the side if you have a stool with a backrest.
I’m not sure yet of the practicality in a busy hygiene schedule.

The Akervall Sisu Extend face shield is adjustable in two places; at the back is a draw-string, and the extended piece above the forehead is able to be pulled to the desired distance from the face. It has a replaceable sweat liner that rests against the forehead. The shield itself can be disinfected with any approved disinfectant spray.
Initial Insights
The Sisu Extend was so comfortable, and it fit easily over both loupes and light!
This shield didn’t fog up on me once during use.
It was easy to set up and adjust, and it feels really sturdy.

We received five Jackson Safety face shields at Dental Advisor and tried all of them out! They range from disposable to heavy duty. The F4XP, Maxview Premium, and Quad 500 Premium are supported by a headpiece with an adjustable dial on the back and a plastic band over top of the head. These three shields can also flip up to allow access to loupes, glasses, or masks.

Jackson Quad 500 Premium Shield
Initial Insights
The disposable shield has a soft, stretchy band that doesn’t get caught up in hair.
The F4XP shield was close to my face, but it was really stable when I flipped it up.
It was a little hard to get the reusable shield set up and adjusted to my size, but the sweat band is super soft and comfortable.
The Maxview was super heavy duty, but it gives coverage all the way back over the ears, which is great for random spatters or pieces of debris.
I really like the shape of the Quad 500; it tapers towards the end and doesn’t bump my chest. The bubble shape leaves a lot of space between my face and the shield.
On each of the heavier duty shields, F4XP, Maxview, and Quad 500, the headpiece was felt-lined and surprisingly comfortable, and very easy to adjust!

We recently received a level 1 reusable barrier protection gown made from Milliken Medical Barrier Fabrics (Milliken Textiles). These gowns are made in the USA and available in three different levels of fluid resistance (levels 1-3) meeting ANSI/AAMI PB70 standards.
Initial Insights
What are the thoughts of the Dental Advisor Initial Insights Team?
Great coverage. Even when sitting down the gown goes down mid-shin length (shown above – operator shown is 5’9″).
Only available in one size (one size fits most) that would be quite large on smaller frames.
Open back adds breath-ability.
Very comfortable, sturdy cloth material that is washable and reusable.
Would like cloth cuffs rather than elastic for added coverage, but arm length allowed for coverage.
Heavy duty material, but might get hot after a long day.

You can position easily under a mask using the provided magnet connector.
I wear a level 3 mask with a level 1 over it. It gets very hot, and Easy Flow makes it much more tolerable.
It’s great to have options on wearing it with the clip or lanyard.
