Description

Cavitron JET Plus is an ultrasonic scaler and air-polishing prophylaxis system, now with Tap-On technology. This feature allows the operator to remove their foot from the pedal and rest, avoiding the discomfort associated with continuous applied pressure. The prophy mode automatically alternates between air polish and rinse cycles in short, medium, or long intervals again eliminating the need to touch the foot pedal. Power options include a single-push Turbo mode, which increases power by 25% (can also be activated by pushing the foot pedal to the floor), and an extended low-power range designed for improved patient comfort. The handpiece is autoclavable and the unit has single push purge and rinse modes. The system is indicated for all general supra- and sub-gingival scaling applications; periodontal debridement; endodontic procedures; removal of extrinsic stains including tobacco, coffee, tea, and chlorhexadine; prophylaxis of orthodontic patients; and preparing teeth prior to bonding and sealant procedures. Cavitron JET Plus was evaluated by seven consultants in 225 uses. This ultrasonic scaler received a 93% clinical rating.

Consultants loved that Cavitron JET Plus integrated an ultrasonic scaler and air polisher in one unit. The Tap-On technology eliminates the need for continued pressure on the foot pedal by the operator. When the pedal is tapped to turn off the scaler, there is a slight delay before the water flow turns off. The Tap-On mode can be disabled if a user prefers traditional foot pedal control. The Prophy mode automatically cycles between air polish and rinse without touching foot pedal, increasing efficiency. The finer water control on Cavitron JET Plus was reported to be an improvement over previous models.

Clinical Tips

• Cavitron PROPHY-JET Prophy Powder should not be used on patients on a sodium-restricted diet; Cavitron JET-Fresh Prophy Powder is a sodium-free alternative.
• Use of HVE suction is recommended during treatment.
• The handpiece accepts 30K ultrasonic inserts.
