Description

The Luxator LX is a mechanical periotome designed to aid in atraumatic tooth extraction. The system includes a selection of four periotome tips and a reciprocating handpiece attachment. The handpiece connects to a micro-motor and should be run at 2000-4000 rpm. Upon activation the luxator tip moves in a vertical direction in the periodontal ligament space around the tooth. Tips are inserted manually, and a removal tool is included to remove the tip from the chuck. Periotome tips are made of titanium-coated stainless steel and should be replaced, not sharpened, when worn. Luxator LX was evaluated by 21 consultants in 242 uses. This surgical instrument received an 86% clinical rating.

Product Features

Luxator LX provides mechanical luxation that reduces the risk of fracturing fragile areas of bone such as the buccal plate or tuberosity. The small head of the handpiece allows good visibility to the surgical area. The color photos in the instruction booklet guide the user through set-up and use of Luxator LX, which was quick when an electric motor was already in place. Noise level is very low, but patients noted a significant amount of vibration. While Luxator LX does not hasten the extraction process, it was rated very good for increasing precision and control.
