Description

QuiXX Posterior Restorative is a composite indicated or use in Class I and Class II restorations. It is available n a single universal shade and offers fluoride release. Filler content is 66% by volume. QuiXX can be placed in increments up to 4 mm in depth. Light curing time is 10 seconds with an output above 800 mW/cm2 and 20 seconds with an output of 500-800 mW/cm2. QuiXX is available n a base package with 40, 0.28-g unit-dose capsules. It was evaluated with the bonding agent (Xeno III) and The Palodent Sectional Matrix System. Thirty-four consultants used QuiXX in over 630 posterior restorations.

Product Features

The single shade of QuiXX and the 4-mm depth of cure make restorative procedures time efficient. Consultants found that QuiXX was easy to use and dispense. The material has waxy, non-sticky viscosity that facilitates placement of occlusal anatomy before polymerization. The universal shades quite translucent, which allows it to pick up color from the surrounding tooth structure. Small restorations blend well and can become undetectable. For larger restorations and those involving teeth with dark, stained dentin, the translucency results in a gray appearance. The cured composite offers little resistance to finishing, necessitating a light touch to avoid gouging the material. The proximal contacts were rated very good as was the final polish. Fifty percent of consultants found QuiXX to be equivalent to or better than the universal composite they currently se. Forty-one percent would switch to QuiXX while 50% would recommend it to a colleague.

Clinical Tips

  • Use on teeth needing deep restorations, such as endodontically-treated teeth.
  • Use a layer of opaque on teeth with dark stains to mask the stain and promote better final color of the restoration.
