Some of the most common complaints with N95 respirators are poor fit, tight straps, and abrasion to the ears and face. ReadiMask is unique: it has no straps and fits to the face using a biocompatible adhesive. It is a rectangular, NIOSH approved N95 respirator with an adhesive border. ReadiMask applies to the face in only 4 steps, which we illustrate in the photos below. It is available in three sizes: small, large, and extra large.
Step 1: apply to sides of the nose
Step 2: seal horizontally across the cheeks
Step 3: seal vertically down the cheeks
Step 4: pinch the entire bottom of the mask together
Done!

Mojave Mobile is a self-contained, portable evacuation system. Weighing just 85lbs, the unit is very easy to move between operatories. Aside from use in mobile dentistry, Mojave Mobile can also be used in practices where HVE is not available for hygiene. The unit contains two HVE lines, a saliva ejector line, and an integrated amalgam separator. It includes disposable traps. Maintenance is simple: run water through between each patient, then run suction line cleaner once each day.

I love the retraction feature!
This HVE feels lighter and has a better angle than a straight, disposable HVE tip.
The extra HVE didn’t feel heavy hanging on my face.
The 360º swivel head can be positioned horizontally or vertically depending on the amount of aerosol being generated.

Standard HVE tips are effective and comfortable to use, but can sometimes cause discomfort to the patient. The hard plastic can create pressure in sensitive areas of the gums. Safe-Vac is an HVE tip that has a rigid but cushioned end, designed to cause less discomfort. It comes in two varieties: Standard or Screened. The Standard Safe-Vac is similar to normal HVE tips, with the addition of the soft green end. The Screened Safe-Vac comes with a small screen just inside the opening to catch debris such as fillings or tooth fragments.

I really like the idea of using the screened HVE tip during certain procedures to catch debris.
It genuinely feels softer in my mouth and doesn’t poke at all.
Looking forward to having cleaner traps!

As we learn more about COVID transmission, attention has been placed on preventing spatter and droplets, as well as aerosols from entering a dental professional’s eyes. New guidelines were issued encouraging the use of goggles or faceshields with sides. In light of this, we received the Palmero® ProVision® Secure™ Safety Eyewear to try out. These goggles are wrap-around with vented foam padding that sits against the wearer’s face. They come equipped with an adjustable elastic strap that can be removed to easily put on and take off the goggles.

What did our team think of the ProVision Secure Safety Eyewear?
The strap is easy to remove and put back on; I found it most comfortable to unhook one side while putting them on.
I couldn’t even get them to fog up, even when I blew straight up against them!
No noticeable distortion near the edges. Great peripheral vision.
The padding is soft on my face unlike some of the all-plastic goggles I’ve tried before.

We recently received Face Shields from Ultra Light Optics™. These shields feature a visor with a fully adjustable head strap that has the ability to flip up. What else makes these unique? A headlight can be attached to the shield itself and additionally, the shield can be extended with optional extenders of 1″ or 1.75″ to accommodate long loupes and/or headlights worn under the shield.

What were some of the thoughts of the Dental Advisor Initial Insights Team?
Everything is customizable on this shield!
My hygienist does not wear loupes and I think this would be perfect for her so she can just have a headlight.
The flip-up option makes it easier to talk to hard-of hearing patients.
No issues getting my longer loupes under these.
