Mojave Mobile

Mojave Mobile

Product Description

Mojave Mobile is a self-contained, portable evacuation system. Weighing just 85lbs, the unit is very easy to move between operatories. Aside from use in mobile dentistry, Mojave Mobile can also be used in practices where HVE is not available for hygiene. The unit contains two HVE lines, a saliva ejector line, and an integrated amalgam separator. It includes disposable traps. Maintenance is simple: run water through between each patient, then run suction line cleaner once each day.

Initial Insights

  • The hoses make the HVE and saliva ejector so much lighter than our current hoses and valves.
  • The unit is sleek and compact, it rolls really easily, and can be positioned quickly.
  • Surfaces are smooth and aseptic, very easy to clean.

3M™ Attest™ Mini Auto-reader

3M™ Attest™ Mini Auto-reader

Product Description

The Attest™ Mini Auto-Reader by 3M™ is an automated, 24-minute biological indicator reader with a new small footprint and just 4 wells. It is designed to test sterilization processes at 270°F and 275°F. A color-changing indicator on the cap of the appropriate biological indicator (BI) vials shows whether the sterilization device exposed its contents to steam. To test whether the sterilization was biologically successful, the vial is activated by “cracking” it with the handheld device and then placing it into the automated reader. In 24 minutes, it returns with a reading that indicates if the sterilization was successful; a “-” indicates a success, and a “+” indicates a failure.

Initial Insights

  • The reader is very sleek; it looks like it’d fit in anywhere.
  • The process is straight forward and easy.
  • It’s especially important right now to know our autoclave is functioning, so having to wait only 24 minutes is much better than 48 hours or more.
  • I really liked the countdown timer; I don’t have to set any alarms or watch the clock.

Glo Science PRO Gum Health Device

Product Description

The Glo Science PRO Gum Health Device is intended to help boost oral health and gently whiten teeth. It uses a special foam treatment with antimicrobial hydrogen peroxide, xylitol, and other compounds to reportedly reduce oral germs and to restore healthy oral pH. The device has a special LED light that warms the foam while in the mouth, causing it to volumize and fill the hard-to-reach places in the teeth and gums. After just 8 minutes, it can be expelled and rinsed with water.

Initial Insights

  • The foam was refreshing and during use the mouth felt tingly.
  • For sensitive teeth, it can be hard to find products that don’t hurt, but Glo Pro felt gentle.
  • The foam can come out quickly, so patients might find it hard not to waste product if they don’t get the hang of it right away.
  • More sizes would be really great to have available.

Lensiora Camera

The public health clinic I worked at did not want to invest in intraoral cameras while I was there. I could not get them to see the game-changing treatment planning potential in showing the patients their own mouth. So, I decided to buy a reasonably priced camera myself (on Amazon mind you) to use in my operatories and maybe show my superiors it would be worth the investment for a fancier model. Holy cow… talk about a nightmare! I imagined I would plug it in, the computer would download the drivers, I would open the intraoral camera button in Dentrix and I would be good to go…. nope. Nothing integrated, it had it’s own software but trying to get the images into the patient’s chart was a ton of steps my assistant did not want to bother with, and the images were definitely affected by the plastic sheath. We never got it going and it became a decoration on the shelf rather than the powerful treatment planning tool I had envisioned… enter Lensiora.

We recently received the Lensiora Camera (Lensiora), here at the Dental Advisor. According to the manufacturers this camera is capable of displaying video and capturing images at the highest resolution currently available on the market: 1600 by 1200 pixels with outstanding image quality. This camera is very affordable at up to 4x’s less than cameras with similar image quality! Additionally, they claim that their proprietary software does a few things that no other camera on the market can do. In Eaglesoft, Schick DICOM, Dentrix and many other dental imaging applications it configures the dental imaging application to see the camera and select it (compared to up to 20 step installation procedures for other cameras). Clicking one single button on the camera, while in the patient chart, it will launch the dental imaging module and display the video stream. Subsequent clicks will take snapshots and save them in the patient chart with no need to use the mouse, which saves valuable chair time.
