Description
Spirit 2004 is an assistant stool designed for operator comfort and support. The seat is contoured to eliminate pressure at the thigh, and the optional full back support is designed to provide support to the lower back and lumbar area. An arm wraps around the front for body support and can be adjusted for height and frontal position. Adjustment levers for seat height and back tilt are placed below the seat with long extensions to allow adjustment of the stool without getting out of the seat. Spirit 2004 is available in 12 standard upholstery colors or optional Ultraleather. The base is made of aluminum and features an adjustable full-ring foot rest and five dual-wheel casters. Eight consultants used Spirit 2004 with Ultraleather and the optional backrest during a nine-month evaluation period. This product received a 93% rating.
Product Features
The contour, size and cushion of the Spirit 2004 provide excellent comfort and support. The body support is effective and easy to adjust; however, the knob for the arm height adjustment often contacts the patient during treatment. The adjustable full-ring foot rest feature provides a comfortable position for most assistants. While most evaluators found it easier to adjust the seat from a standing position, the gas cylinder and long levers made it very easy to change position while seated. Seventy-five percent of the consultants rated Spirit 2004 as being equivalent to or better than the assistant stool they currently use.
Clinical Tips
- The arm rest adjustment knob is bulky and often bumps the patient’s shoulders or arms during treatment. Replace this knob with a small thumbscrew from a hardware store.
