Most hand sanitizers that are familiar to the general public are alcohol-based. What are the most common complaints? Smelly, sticky, stinging… One for all by Ho Dental is a foaming hand sanitizer with 0.13% benzalkonium chloride as the active antiseptic, making it alcohol-free and gentle on the hands. It also includes ingredients such as tea tree oil and vitamin C to reportedly soften and soothe skin. The greatest claim is that it creates a germicidal barrier on your hands for up to 24 hours.
Initial Insights
My hands feel so soft after using this!
It takes a little longer than most sanitizers to rub in, but it feels smooth and non-greasy afterwards.
It smells a lot like tea tree and citrus – a nice change from many sanitizers.
I’d love to see more clinical research on the germicidal barrier claim.

The FLUIDSHIELD Face Masks from Halyard are a line of fluid-resistant ATSM Level 3 masks in a variety of sizes and styles. The standard face masks are tri-fold and have elastic ear straps. They are also available with an attached SPLASHGUARD visor, which is adhered to the mask straight out of the package. This eliminates the need for an extra shield.
Initial Insights
My assistants like that they’re lightweight and breathable. These masks are their go-to.
Since the shield is attached, I like that I don’t need an extra head strap. A lot of normal visors give me headaches, but these don’t.
These fit medium faces like mine very well; I don’t need to do any adjusting!
It feels very secure.

Sometimes, it feels like one prophy paste is just like the next. When they’re mixed together in containers, it takes an extra step of reading the tiny print on the foil to see if it’s fine or coarse and what flavor it is. CleanJoy® by VOCO America, Inc. is specifically designed in a “traffic light” color coding system where red is always coarse, yellow is always medium, and green is always fine, so you know what you are grabbing. The instructions indicate to use the green finishing paste after using the red or yellow pastes. Its Fine Dual Filler Technology reportedly causes less of a sandy feeling while being as effective as traditional pastes. It contains fluoride and xylitol and is available in three flavors: mint, caramel, and cherry, each in the traffic light color coding system.
Initial Insights
The mint is very refreshing.
Even the coarse paste was minimally gritty; it didn’t “crunch” as much as others.
It has a very smooth texture, almost like frosting.
I really like the traffic-light color coding. It’s much easier than reading the tiny print on the foil.

Previously, DENTAL ADVISOR evaluated GingiCaine® Gel Syringes and it received an Editor’s Choice rating of 97% and is a Hygienist Favorite. On top of that, it is now available as GINGICaine Fusion by Gingi-Pak. It is a topical anesthetic available not only in a jar, but also in a single-use syringe. The syringe allows for direct placement of the gel into the gingival sulcus. GINGICaine contains 20% Benzocaine and is infused with 2% Hemp Extract, which reportedly helps to immediately reduce inflammation, relieve pain and irritation. The onset is 20 seconds with a 30-60 minute duration and it is available in two flavors: strawberry and vanilla.
Injecting directly into the sulcus
The whole team!
Initial Insights
Very quick onset but it subsided in a reasonable time; it didn’t last longer than needed.
The strawberry and vanilla flavors are very mild and not medicinal; the strawberry one is especially pleasant.
The syringe was very easy to use. It works great on patients with deeper pockets.
I like that it’s a gel because some other injectable products are too runny.
It’s neat that not only does it provide anesthesia, it is also anti-inflammatory due to the hemp extract.

When offices began reopening during the pandemic, whitening became one of the fastest-growing procedures. One new whitening system is Pola Rapid by SDI. It claims to offer whitening in just 24 minutes in the office, requiring 3, 8-minute sessions. It does not require the use of a bleaching light. However, it can be paired with SDI’s Radii Xpert curing light with whitening attachment. Each kit can treat 3 patients and includes whitening gel and the syringe tips, gingival barriers and cheek retractors, applicator tips for gel and barrier, and instructions for use. Refrigeration is required for this product. The dual-barrel syringe has a brush for easily dispensing gel directly on the teeth.
Easy-dispense barrier
Using Radii Xpert to cure the barrier
Brush-tip syringe made it very easy to apply!
Initial Insights
I definitely noticed a brightening of my teeth; love it!
The blocker is very easy to apply and it stays right where it’s placed. It didn’t allow any whitening gel to touch the gums.
The brush tip was flexible and easy to use, but it still felt like I needed to place it rather than brush it on.
I found it lightened a patient who started out in a gray shade more than it did for one with a brown shade.
