The BlueView™ VariStrip™ by Garrison Dental Solutions are contoured 0.002″ anterior matrix bands that taper from one side to the other. They are intended to be slid interproximally until the band matches the height of the restoration. Their blue tint allows them to contrast with the tooth structure without compromising polymerization.

One chief complaint about Level 3 face masks is that they are too hot on the face and make breathing difficult. The S3+ Face Masks from Cranberry® are 3-ply, quad-fold masks with a lint-free inner layer. They are designed to be extra breathable and cool by reportedly providing an extra 15% of breathing room. The ear loops are soft and elastic for greater comfort, and the wire across the mask’s top retains a seal across the face. These masks are available in black, blue, and white.

The wire on top holds its shape very well and makes a great seal. My glasses don’t fog up nearly as much with these.
Please make a smaller size! As they are now, they are far too big for people with smaller faces.
The inside lining is silky and smooth.

In July 2020, an EPA ruling requiring amalgam separators in offices went into effect. While many offices were able to install one, some situations may make it difficult. During appointments, instruments are often wiped off on 2×2 gauze pads or on the patient’s bib. All-Wipe™ Instrument Cleaner by AllPro Dental is a solution to possible pokes and inefficient wiping. It is a multi-grooved foam pad that adheres to the back of the hand, bib, tray, or other convenient locations. The clinician can wipe instruments through the grooves to remove debris rather than searching for a piece of gauze.

I was surprised how well it cleaned my instruments; much easier than fighting with a loose piece of gauze.

DEACTIVATE R4+ Premium Wipe & Spray by NCA Laboratories are non-alcoholic, sporicidal disinfectant with a unique formulation. The wipes are reportedly 100% biodegradable. The solution claims to destroy 99.9% of surface bacteria such as TB and resistant spores. They are non-toxic, non-acidic, and fragrance-free, and are reportedly safe for all surfaces, including vinyl and leather. This product is safe to use without gloves in non-clinical contact areas such as reception or team areas.

Many hygienists have experienced prophy paste spatter. Young Dental designed a disposable prophy angle (DPA) to combat this issue. Splatter Guard is designed to work at its best when used with the Infinity Cordless Hygiene Handpiece by Young Dental, but it can reportedly fit just about any hygiene handpiece. It has a webbed cup for prophy paste and a little fin just underneath to help catch splatter. It is available in two sizes.

We tried a brightly-colored prophy paste so we could see if there was any splatter – there wasn’t!
