Fluoride varnish is often an important part of a child’s dental health. Finding the right fluoride for your office can be tricky. Waterpik® UltraThin Fluoride Varnish is a 5% sodium fluoride varnish with xylitol and is available in 4 flavors: melon, bubblegum, strawberry, and mint. It is designed to be thinner than competitive varnishes. Like most varnishes, it is available in single dose (0.40mL) units with applicator brushes.
It really does fill in grooves

The color is a little yellow but I thought it flowed really nicely into the grooves of the occlusals.
The flavor was mild and pleasant.
When it’s applied on dry teeth, I like how translucent it is!
It definitely has less of that varnish flavor than our current brand.

One chief complaint about Level 3 face masks is that they are too hot on the face and make breathing difficult. The S3+ Face Masks from Cranberry® are 3-ply, quad-fold masks with a lint-free inner layer. They are designed to be extra breathable and cool by reportedly providing an extra 15% of breathing room. The ear loops are soft and elastic for greater comfort, and the wire across the mask’s top retains a seal across the face. These masks are available in black, blue, and white.

The wire on top holds its shape very well and makes a great seal. My glasses don’t fog up nearly as much with these.
Please make a smaller size! As they are now, they are far too big for people with smaller faces.
The inside lining is silky and smooth.
There’s a noticeable difference in the breathing room.

Sealants are commonly delivered through a syringe, but this can sometimes create voids or excess material which requires adjustment. Champ® Pit & Fissure Sealant from Centrix is a single-unit sealant with a brush applicator. It is a bioactive, light-cured sealant, and it does not require a bonding agent. Instead, the clinician just needs to etch, rinse, apply, and cure. Champ also releases fluoride and phosphate over time.
Note: for those who prefer syringe delivery, Champ will be available in a syringe in July 2021.

When I use flowable, I dispense it and then use a brush. This has it all in one place!
It would be interesting to see research on the fluoride and phosphate release over time; if it’s longer than other products, I would switch!

Hand sanitizers are often strong-smelling, drying, and sting cracked hands. HANDSIES by NCA Laboratories is a non-alcoholic sanitizer that uses quaternary ammonium compounds (commonly known as “quats”) to kill bacteria. The formulation reportedly creates a barrier on the hands that prevents bacterial growth for a prolonged period. It contains aloe vera extract as a moisturizer and has a pink coloration. It is available in 500mL bottles.
NOTE: The design of the bottle is going to change, so watch for a new look in the near future.

The smell is almost floral; it’s very pleasant!
I always have dry hands but this makes them feel softer.
The current bottle dispenses a lot so be sure to really cup your hand.

In July 2020, an EPA ruling requiring amalgam separators in offices went into effect. While many offices were able to install one, some situations may make it difficult. Capt-all by DOVE Dental Products is a handheld HVE tip with a built-in amalgam separator. It not only prevents backflow, but it also captures all amalgam before it enters the lines. During appointments, instruments are often wiped off on 2×2 gauze pads or on the patient’s bib. All-Wipe™ Instrument Cleaner by AllPro Dental is a solution to possible pokes and inefficient wiping. It is a multi-grooved foam pad that adheres to the back of the hand, bib, tray, or other convenient locations. The clinician can wipe instruments through the grooves to remove debris rather than searching for a piece of gauze.
